Sudanese Embassy Protest November 7th, 2008
This protest took place in front of the steps of the Washington, DC Sudanese Embassy. Part of the Tents of Hope "Gathering of the Tents" national event, the protest included church groups, Save Darfur members, STAND students, and Darfuri and Sudanese refugees. Speakers talked about the indictment of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, and read the ICC indictment against him over the loudspeaker. Members of the audience signed a petition to present to the embassy officials, but were blocked at the door by security personnel. Protestors continued to speak, demanding justice for the people of Darfur. American speakers came from as far away as Alaska, and Darfuri nationals told their personal stories of the genocide. STAND students spoke and cheered on participants.
